Violet Is Nowhere by Faith Gardner
Krysten’s Review
Wow. Just wow. This book blew me away.
Part mystery/thriller, part romance, and part futuristic sci-fi, Violet is Nowhere is a thought-provoking, darkly comedic novel that I plowed through in just a couple of days. The characters are so real, so alive—with their messy lives and fatal flaws and complex emotions and hilarious quirks—that I can’t help but feel deeply for them, both good and bad. I laughed out loud. I gasped with each discovery they made. I shared in their fear and joy and hopelessness.
As an author myself, I like to collect well-written or poignant passages that speak to me in some way, but in this book, there were just too many to keep track of. The writing was so fresh, so funny, so heartbreaking, so beautiful. I did not see the end coming, and I can’t help but feel both happy and sad. This is a bittersweet story that will stick with me for a while.
Now, excuse me, while I run off to buy Amen Maxine. 😉
