Twenty-four years ago, five-year-old Tori walked into her newborn brother's room in the middle of the night to see a shadowy figure abducting him. The next morning, her baby brother’s lifeless body was found in the crib, and nobody believed her story that he was kidnapped. Years later, her childhood friend is found with her dead newborn, claiming her “real” baby was taken by a shadowy figure.

Krysten’s Review

I enjoyed this book. The story was compelling, and I was never sure who I could trust; even the narrator seemed unreliable at times. I was surprised at the twists; I did not see them coming. It was maybe a little long and repetitive (all the people they talked to seemed to have similar stories that didn’t really add to the plot), and if Tori mentioned her inner Negative Nancy one more time, I was going to slap her. I also thought the info-dump at the end could have been presented in a more exciting way. But overall it was a good book, and I would read another book from this author in the future.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
