When I stepped into the courtroom this morning, I intended to fight for my client’s life. I never expected to run for my own. Now the courthouse is in lockdown, and I’m trapped in a tiny room with my nemesis—the West Oaks PD cop who hates me most.

Krysten’s Review

This was my second book by this author and I enjoyed it even more than the first! It is a quick, easy-to-read novel that I finished in a day. I love Hannah Shield’s writing style — witty, clever, sassy, and just the right amount of emotion so that it’s not over-the-top sappy. The characters are real and relatable, with flaws and secrets and plenty of redeeming qualities. The transition from enemies to lovers felt natural; although I liked the HEA, the ending felt a bit cliche (though I’m sure the typical romance reader—which I am not—will gobble it up). I’ll definitely continue reading books by this author!
