Ashley Cooke will do just about anything to save her struggling ski hill—even hiring ex-felons to cut costs. Recovering addict and ex-grunge rocker Matthew Madigan has devoted every minute of the last decade to the men residing at his sober living home. When he meets tightly wound and adorably flustered Ashley, desires he’s put on the back burner for years start to simmer.

Krysten’s Review

This was a fun, fast read and I finished it in just one day. I loved the author’s writing style and laughed out loud more than a few times. The characters were well-rounded and real, with interesting backstories and flaws (with the exception of Chuck; he felt pretty flat to me, but maybe that was intentional).

The majority of the story worked really well for me, but the end felt a bit rushed. I liked how Ashley had a chance to get closure with Chuck and tell him how she really felt, but the way he was literally laughed off the mountain felt cartoonish. Although the mountain bike plan was mentioned earlier in the story, it still felt like it came out of nowhere… I would think that someone as careful as Ashley would do a little more research and make sure she could afford it before telling everyone their contract was being extended. Other than that, this was a fantastic story, and I will definitely check out the author’s other novels!
