November was a crazy month. While I pounded out 50,315 words for Undercover Exposé as part of National Novel Writing Month, I was also continuing to work on Anonymous Source. Honestly it’s mind boggling how much non-writing-related work a self-published author does for one book. (So much that I could write a book on it! Ha ha.)
Breaking News on the Breaking News Mystery Series
All that work is about to pay off, because Anonymous Source is now AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER! (And by “pay off,” I do mean literally, so please go buy it.) The e-book is being sold in all the usual places and on a whole bunch of retailers you probably haven’t heard of.
Though the book’s official publish date is Jan. 1, 2022, you can purchase it right. freaking. now. Because you are THAT special!
Then, while you’re sleeping off all the champagne and Jell-O shots you consumed on New Year’s Eve, the technology fairies will magically deliver it to your e-reader so it’s ready for you whenever you wake up. Pop a couple of ibuprofens, chug some water, and get to reading. What a way to start off 2022!
All that for the low, low price of $3.99.
But let’s face it: The real value is the hours of torture you’ll endure to get to the sweet release at the end. And you really can’t put a price on that.
Reader Reviews & Building Hype
Not only can readers around the globe and beyond—well, maybe not beyond—buy a copy of the book, but it’s also up on Goodreads. Where, I might add, it’s gathering a nice collection of 4- and 5-star reviews from my advance readers. (Go, street team, go!)
It’s been amazing to hear from all these people whose lives were enriched by my book. Okay, that might be a bit poetic, but honestly, I’m humbled by all the feedback I’ve received. I even had a reader email me the following:
All I can say is wow, what a read. I am so satisfied with how the story turned out, I am really glad I ran into you. You can easily be my favourite author.
All I can say is wow. I couldn’t stop smiling for, like, an hour after I read that, even though I stayed home sick from work today. This reader truly made my day.
Anyway, enough with the mushy stuff. If you happened to grab an ARC, please stop by Goodreads to leave your review before Jan. 1. I’d also love it if you posted it on the retailers where my book is being sold—especially Amazon, because something like 79% of books are purchased there. Insane, right? But you gotta go where the people are.
For those of you who didn’t join the Anonymous Source street team, please log into Goodreads and add it to your TBR list! After you pre-order it, of course.
NaNoWriMo Wrap-Up
As I discussed in my last post, November is one of my favorite times of year because it’s National Novel Writing Month. This year did not disappoint. After a tough year, losing my beloved dog and grandmother, I spent most of 2021 felt creatively and generally empty. But when November rolled around, it was like I’d gotten my mojo back. In the first week, I made it nearly halfway to the goal of 50,000 words. I was on fire.

Of course, as soon as I noticed this, the fire simmered down a bit. Being that I have a full-time job and other adult responsibilities, writing that much on a daily basis really isn’t sustainable, so I wasn’t surprised when I slowed down. (As you can see in the chart to the right.) I still hit my 50K (plus another 315 words for good measure) with several days to spare. Since then, I’ve taken a little break to work on some marketing for Anonymous Source, but I’ll get back to the keyboard soon.
And then we’ll do this whole process over again!
